Acceptance into the Scientific and Technological Research for Global Issues Program (SATREPS)

The research project “Establishing a Research and Education Complex in Turkey to Develop Disaster-Resilient Societies—MARTEST” (Principal Investigator: Professor Yoshiyuki Kaneda, Specially Appointed Professor/Special Advisor to the President, Kagawa University), in which Associate Professor Hibino is scheduled to participate, has been selected for the Scientific and Technological Research for Sustainable Development Program (SATREPS).

This research project aims to significantly contribute to the formation of disaster-resilient, earthquake-resistant cities in Turkey and neighboring countries. It will be conducted in collaboration with MARTEST at Gebze Technical University in earthquake-prone Turkey, focusing on developing new technologies, testing and evaluating existing technologies, and promoting their dissemination.

Associate Professor Hibino will lead research related to structural testing and the transfer of seismic engineering technologies. He will work to enhance the level of seismic engineering in Turkey and, through MARTEST, conduct dissemination and educational activities in Turkey and surrounding countries. Additionally, he will propose advanced observation systems and simulation-based earthquake and tsunami damage mitigation systems.
